Got 'til it's Gone

Blackbird film to co-star Mo'Nique (Jan 2014)

A film based on Larry Duplechan’s novel Blackbird, about the coming of age of a gay African-American high schooler, will premiere in Los Angeles in February 2014. Directed by Patrik-Ian Polk (Noah’s Arc), the film co-stars Mo’Nique (in her first screen appearance since winning an Academy Award for Precious; she is also an executive producer) and Isaiah Washington.

Blackbird was published by Arsenal as part of our Little Sister’s Classic series. Larry's follow-up novel, Got 'til It's Gone, featuring Blackbird's protagonist as an adult, won a Lambda Literary Award.
