Arabian Nights: A Queer Film Classic launch in Montreal (April 2017)

The Concordia University Chair in Documentary Film and in Sexual Representation and the Program in Interdisciplinary Studies in Sexuality welcome author Michael Moon (Professor, Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies, Emory University) for the book launch of Arabian Nights: A Queer Film Classic.

Moon's book explores the legacy and context of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Arabian Nights (1974), in many ways the most optimistic and appealing of the director’s late films, not only in the final explosive phase of his career, but also more broadly in the global history of film spectacle.

Arabian Nights (125 min.) will be screened in full, introduced by and followed by a discussion with Moon. Also in attendance are Queer Film Classics co-editors Thomas Waugh and Matthew Hays.
