Any Other City by Hazel Jane Plante and White Riot: The 1907 Anti-Asian Riots in Vancouver by Henry Tsang have been named finalists for the 2024 BC and Yukon Book Prizes!

Any Other City, the fictional memoir of an indie rock star named Tracy St. Cyr, is a finalist for the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize. Hazel's previous novel, Little Blue Encyclopedia (for Vivian), was a finalist for a BC and Yukon Book Prize (the Jim Deva Prize for Writing that Provokes) in 2020.

White Riot, an illustrated history of Vancouver's anti-Asian riots in 1907, is a finalist for the Bill Duthie Booksellers' Choice Prize, an award for authors and publishers, voted on by BC's bookselling community. White Riot is also the co-winner of the Dr. Edgar Wickerberg Book Prize for the best book about the Chinese Canadian History, presented by the Chinese Canadian Historical Society of BC. The BC and Yukon Book Prizes will be presented at a ceremony in Vancouver in September.

Congratulations to Hazel, Henry, and all the finalists!
